Template transclusion

Hi @Pppery:, please could you help with getting interwiki transcluding of this wiki's templates functional? --Rob Kam (talk) 12:41, 18 October 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

JSON syntax error in Template:Reply to/doc

Hi Pppery,

If you get a chance, would you mind taking a look at the JSON syntax error in the TemplateData specifications at Template:Reply to/doc? I've examined it several times, trying different combinations by previewing my edits, and each time I still get a JSON error, so I'm not quite sure what the issue is. I feel like it's an extra comma or curly brace, or placement of square brackets where there should be none, but I can't seem to figure it out.

Thanks,

HoYoverse wikis template

Do you know of a better place to put it that's more likely to be in scope? Very preferably somewhere that can be transcluded. Collei (talk) 18:21, 15 January 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It's possible to enable cross-wiki transclusion from any Miraheze wiki. This would require action from a interwiki admin, which can be requested as m:Community noticeboard. DevWiki is only special in that it's enabled by default. Pppery (talk) 20:00, 15 January 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Adding stuff to unfinished template

Hey, I'm working on PortableInfobox of officeholder and stated in edit summaries that they're intermediate - there's still a lot of work to do, and I probably should have stated that more obviously. Putting the blank code away into documentation page will hinder my work a little though, so I'd like to have it in template itself for the time being. Please don't touch this template until it's finished. Also I wanted to create a simpler documentation template which won't depend on Lua modules. Thanks. TemplateStyles extension

Could you enable the TemplateStyles extension at the Parser hooks section of Special:ManageWiki/extensions It would remove the TemplateStyle error on Template:Terminal

Rodejong (talk) 21:44, 21 February 2024 (UTC) Rodejong (talk) 21:44, 21 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

TemplateStyles is already been enabled on DevWiki itself and has been since forever. The "You may need to enable the TemplateStyles extension at the Parser hooks section of Special:ManageWiki/extensions on your wiki for template this to work properly." warning is directed to people copying templates to other Miraheze wikis where it may not be enabled, and I see no actual error there. Pppery (talk) 22:04, 21 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Oh, and you've been doing a very good job adding new templates to this wiki. Please keep it up! Pppery (talk) 22:05, 21 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Excellent. I thought it was an Error message. But I get it!
And thanks. I'll be more active on here the coming time. I'll be looking to place more simplified templates as well, free from LUA.
And thanks for the autopatrol setting.Rodejong (talk) 23:30, 21 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Request for move

Could you move these pages?

Rodejong (talk) 01:09, 23 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
 Done. Pppery (talk) 01:16, 23 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks. Gadget-stickyToc: I've tested it on my own wiki first, and it works! Rodejong (talk) 01:19, 23 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Request content table change to Sanitized CSS

Template:Infobox.css needs to be sanitized please Rodejong (talk) 16:09, 26 February 2024 (UTC) Rodejong (talk) 16:09, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I was a bit hasty, but styles aren't really necessary.

So pages Template:Infobox album/style.css and Template:Infobox/style.css as well as the redirect: Template:Infobox.css can be deleted. Sorry for the inconvenience. Rodejong (talk) 16:35, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Deleted all. For future reference if you had created a page at Template:Infobox/style.css it would have been the right content model by default. Pppery (talk) 16:48, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yeah, I hadn't noticed it when copying from Pizzatower, where they had it on Template:Infobox.css and I should have changed it immediately. I could have copied it to Template:Infobox/style.css then it would have worked. But then thought, we need to keep it simple. Thanks for helping. Upload information is missing a parameter

MediaWiki:Upload-default-description is missing the following parameter: |permission =

Could you please add it to the following?

{{Information
|description =
|source =
|author =
|date =
|permission =
|other_versions =
}}

Asbox

Please don't redirect Asbox to stub, as Stub has limited use, and Asbox has more ability in categorising different stubs.

Plus, we're working on a full fledged set of templates that will likely be pre-installed on new wiki's, and made this template for them to inspect. (see https://discord.com/channels/407504499280707585/1213907082647044156 )

I didn't redirect {{asbox}} to {{stub}}. I moved it to {{stub template}} since "asbox" is a cryptic and incorrect acronym. Pppery (talk) 22:57, 4 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It didn't have the Asbox functionality I was looking for. That was what was necessary, as it has the option for more categories. The Stub had only 1 category. Fixed though.  Kind regards,   Rodejong   💬 Talk ✉️ Email  📝 Edits  👀 Auth →  23:20, 4 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I think I had a cache issue as well, sorry for the pings :)  Kind regards,   Rodejong   💬 Talk ✉️ Email  📝 Edits  👀 Auth →  23:24, 4 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
{{stub}} and {{stub template}} are two different templates. You seem to be conflating them. Pppery (talk) 23:35, 4 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It's confusing me as to have two templates with the same name, when all people want is to use "Template Stub"
As I made clear in the documentation, It can be used directly in any sub-stub, or else the main stub will be the one used. That's why I kept Asbox seperate.
It's late and I should be in bed. I look at it tomorrow again.  Kind regards,   Rodejong   💬 Talk ✉️ Email  📝 Edits  👀 Auth →  00:02, 5 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Pre loaded document template.

Could you please remove the "}}" at the end? When you start a document subpage, it loads the template, but the }} at the end are not matching a {{ anywhere, so each time I have to remove it afterwards.  Kind regards,   Rodejong   💬 Talk ✉️ Email  📝 Edits  👀 Auth →  12:04, 9 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Request Content Model Change

Hi Pppery. I've imported UnsignedHelper from enwiki(and will edit it later to work properly on Miraheze wikis tomorrow), would you mind changing the page content model for it's source page please? Thanks, and have a good day! PixDeVl (talk) 02:22, 15 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Done. And I've also granted editcontentmodel to everyone so you can do this yourself next time. Pppery (talk) 02:52, 15 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Make user pages noindex

In ManageWiki namespaces, make user pages noindex nofollow. People aren't really looking for user pages on search engines and pages that aren't useful to searchers being indexed is bad for SEO. Collei (talk) 05:55, 16 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Done. I'm not convinced this is actually a problem, and it's definitely not one specific to this wiki (which is unlikely to be searched for anyway), but it seems harmless. I left user robots control allowed in the namespace, so if someone really wants their userpage indexed they can add __INDEX__ to it. Pppery (talk) 15:03, 16 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
