Why not add translate extension?

Miraheze is a multilingual wiki farm.So this wiki needs to open to everyone.

Why not add translate extension? And then read helps will be convenient.

Stack exchange question

Best practices for including Wikipedia templates on outside wiki?, asked on Stack Exchange Web applications. Rob Kam (talk) 07:56, 1 September 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Was off-topic and got downvoted to death because of format, so re-asked on Webmasters.SE: How to use Wikipedia templates on an outside MediaWiki? Psephomancy (talk) 19:46, 1 September 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Broken Link to Wikimedia Commons Icons by Subject

I found it:

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Icons_by_subject

It just needs to be fixed on this page now.

Thanks, --John Neil (talk) 08:00, 5 January 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thanks, fixed now. --Rob Kam (talk) 22:07, 28 July 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

translate

this page can translate to zh. -- Wiki Emoji|Emojipedia Talk about

I'm getting a permission error trying to translate, even as a Bureaucrat, but I do understand the fix: someone needs to grant the translate right to a user group using Special:ManageWiki/permissions Pppery (talk) 01:14, 3 June 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I've now done that. @Emojipedia, Geryescalier, and Arracso:, you should now be able to translate pages into your language. Pppery (talk) 15:53, 11 June 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Translate to Spanish language

Hello, when I go to the Spanish translation, you ask me for translation permissions, on which page should I request these permissions? Thank you.--Geryescalier (talk) 03:25, 4 May 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Translate to Catalan

Hi, I want to translate this page to Catalan. But, I have no idea how to create a translated page. --Arracso (talk) 11:00, 02 June 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Changing wiki main page

I feel that the main page is kind of empty and not helpful to people looking for templates and scripts. I'm thinking we should redesign it, possibly base it off of https://dev.fandom.com Collei (talk) 21:12, 22 April 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Honestly Fandom's devwiki main page feels emptier to me than this wiki's, but I am in principle open to changed being made. Pppery (talk) 21:51, 22 April 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I see, I can try to avoid making it look like the Fandom devwiki then. Collei (talk) 22:23, 22 April 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Collei: Could you create one in your sandbox so we could see how it would look like?  Kind regards,   Rodejong   💬 Talk ✉️ Email  📝 Edits   Auth →  21:53, 22 April 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I am working on that now on my private wiki, I'll send it here once I have it looking better Collei (talk) 22:09, 22 April 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I attempted to create it in my sandbox, but it doesn't work properly due to the CSS parser function being disabled. I have created a draft here instead:

Please let me know what you think of it; I will make changes as needed. I know it's lacking in content, but I couldn't think of what else to add. Collei (talk) 22:38, 22 April 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I would say "no tech skills required" is wishful thinking - many people have complained about even importing templates from here being too difficult. Otherwise fine with me. Pppery (talk) 23:45, 22 April 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I agree. Just had that same question on Discord.
You need to think of this as a shopping mall with ignorant customers (Me included). Not a local warehouse where customers, like you, come who know what they are doing. :) We need to make it as simple as possible for them.  Kind regards,   Rodejong   💬 Talk ✉️ Email  📝 Edits   Auth →  17:22, 27 April 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
That's true, I think it could be possibly made easier with a more detailed guide on exporting and importing templates Collei (talk) 18:29, 27 April 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It was once on my radar to have a "import this template and its dependencies to your wiki" button show up with every template that loaded JavaScript that automatically imported everything. I made a start toward implementing it, but ran into CORS problems that meant it couldn't actually be done without custom configuration changes I felt this wiki didn't deserve.
